This project is far more than a conventional hotel..far more than a conventional Art Gallery. It aims to provide a space and opportunity to explore the many facets that make up our lives and personalities An antidote to the holistic approach which leads to the bland airbrushing of extremes and denial of conflict and fracture, and instead allows for full discovery, appreciation and celebration of the intense and intriguing contradictions that many of us feel constitute the central dynamic of our lives. Key themes central to the project include gender, sexuality and the transgression of the boundaries that have built up around these practices. The project will explore gender dismorphia, 'deviant' sexuality, fetishism and other serious issues, but not necessarily in a serious way. We will feature dark surreal erotica, extreme body art and modification, and challenging psychological artworks. But interspersed with this will be more playful and irreverent material...and plenty of stuff that doesn't really make a point at all but we like because it is just plain silly. Through contemplation, activity, emotion, laughter and purposeful development we can come to know ourselves better and enrich our lives. This project aims to provide an inspirational ambiance for this, and a space dedicated to artistic practices and events which facilitate this transformation. A UK venue for the project was secured 5 April 2014. It is a 5 Storey Georgian building just off Brighton Seafront that was previously operating as a guest house. Work has begun to create 5 uniquely imaginative suites over 3 floors. The lower ground Floor and Ground floor will house a dedicated art gallery and event space. Programmed events will include exhibitions, celebrations, themed weekend escapes and dinner parties, a pop up cafe/restaurant and a space for classes and workshops.

Into You Tattoo Brighton
Distance: 0.1 mi Tourist Information
4 East Street
Brighton, BN1 1

01273 710730

For the last two decades Into You Tattoo has been at the forefront of innovative tattooing worldwide. The London shop opened its doors in 1993 and some of the UKs best tattooers have come through the shop, including Curly, Nikole Lowe, Thomas Hooper, Xed LeHead. The Brighton shop opened up in 2006 with the aim of offering the same high class tattooing to more people. Like London, the Brighton shop features some of the city's best tattooers whose portfolios cover all styles and methods of tattooing, including hand poked tattoos without the aid of electricity. We are here because of a genuine love of tattooing, and our aim is to give you the best tattoo we can. These days, tattooing being such a broad church, we offer tattoos in a wide variety of styles; from large to small, traditional to tribal. Have a good look through our online portfolios to get an idea what you would like, and who you would like to do it. If you like what you see, pay us a visit on Little East Street and we can talk through your ideas, and take it from there. These days getting a tattoo is rarely an impulse, but a well thought out, step by step procedure: we can help and guide you all the way.

4 Pavilion Buildings

Brighton Museum & Art Gallery is a municipally-owned public museum and art gallery in the city of Brighton and Hove in the South East of England. It is part of "Royal Pavilion & Museums, Brighton and Hove". It is free for local residents but charges around £5 per non-resident visitor.HistoryThe building which houses the collection is part of the Royal Pavilion Estate and was originally built for the Prince of Wales, later George IV and completed in 1805. It was initially intended as a tennis court but had never been finished, and later served as cavalry barracks. After the death of George IV in 1830, his successor King William IV also stayed in the Pavilion on his visits to Brighton. However, after Queen Victoria's last visit to Brighton in 1845, the Government planned to sell the building and grounds. However the Brighton Commissioners and the Brighton Vestry successfully petitioned the government to sell the Pavilion to the town for £53000 in 1850 under the Brighton Improvement (Purchase of the Royal Pavilion and Grounds) Act 1850.In September 1851 it was announced that part of the Pavilion was to be appropriated for annual art exhibitions and two months later the first of these was held. The local talent to which it was confined included Frederick Nash and Copley Fielding. The room devoted to the exhibition was the original South Gallery, now the First Conference Room, but later the exhibitions even spread to the Great Kitchen.
