CHELSEA space is a public exhibiting space where invited art and design professionals are encouraged to work on experimental curatorial projects that may not otherwise be realised. The programme is international and interdisciplinary covering art, design and popular culture. The emphasis is on curatorial experimentation, the exposure of process and ideas, and re-readings of artworks and archives and their re-presentation for contemporary audiences. CHELSEA space is a platform for discussion and questions rather than definitive answers. The ethos at CHELSEA space is welcoming - a meeting place where informal social networks can develop. CHELSEA space is sited on the Millbank campus of Chelsea College of Arts, next to Tate Britain, and provides extra-curricular interest for the school and open access to the widest possible audiences. 2014 will see the introduction of the Exhibition Studio Workshop into CHELSEA space, which will show a changing selection of works and objects from the CHELSEA space, Chelsea College of Arts Library and Special Collections, in addition to the established exhibition programme. The Exhibition Studio Workshop is the practice-based strand of the new MA Curating and Collections postgraduate taught course which will give students the opportunity to work within the professional gallery environment. This unique workshop will engage students in live curatorial practice within a renowned public space.

Toccata Classics/Toccata Press

At Toccata Classics we aim to bring you fresh Classical music as it has never been heard before. We are dedicated to producing top-notch classical music - ALL our albums you can find first and original recordings that you can’t find anywhere else. Next year we will be celebrating out 10th anniversary and now have almost 200 in the catalogue with many more in the pipeline! Currently we have recordings of music by Alkan, Alnæs, Ashton, Busch, Eller, Ernst, Farwell, Glanville-Hicks, Lyatoshynsky, David Matthews, Oppel, Ornstein, Peyko, Pickard, Rameau, Ramey, Reicha, Röntgen, Sekles, Shebalin, Shostakovich, Süda, Tartini, Alexander and Nikolai Tcherepnin, Telemann, Weinberg, Woyrsch and many more. Toccata Press is an independent publisher of books on music. Brian Newbould's examination of the Schubert symphonies, amazingly, was the first full-length analysis in any language. Harold Truscott's book on the orchestral music of Franz Schmidt was the first to be written in English on that composer, nor had anyone written a book on Enescu in English before Toccata Press brought out Noel Malcolm's pioneering study of this great musician. Owen Toller's monograph on Pfitzner's opera Palestrina was likewise the first full-scale examination in English of this neglected masterpiece. Vol. 1 of Andrew Ashbee's examination of the life and music of John Jenkins was not only the first book on Jenkins but also the first on the viol fantasy; Vol. 2 is in preparation. Another of our numerous titles on British music, Ronald Stevenson: The Man and his Music is probably the largest book on any living composer. And our efforts on behalf of Stevenson continue with Comrades in Art, featuring his correspondence with Percy Grainger and complete writings on Grainger and his music. The most recent titles are Tully Potter’s monumental biography of the violinist-composer Adolf Busch and Hans Keller’s collected writings on Stravinsky, coupled with Milein Cosman’s insightful drawings and prints of the composer.

London Irish Art endeavours to explore the personal understanding and the experience of the Irish diaspora living in the U.K., specifically in relation to culture, identity and creativity. A dynamic programme of art, poetry and music, will inform this exciting investigation. A vast array of media will be explored, ranging from the more traditional forms of painting, photography, mixed media and sculpture to the more contemporary means of expression such as video work, installation and stop-motion animation. As London holds the largest Irish diaspora in the world, this exhibition endeavours to represent an on-going dialogue between these two countries. Striving to build ties and cultural relations with the Irish art scene in the U.K., this event is organised to provide artists with cross border exposure.

Indie Ales

Elm Drive

Average people drink average beers. Who wants average? Life's too short. Indie Ales is about helping people drink the best beer available to them. This means a huge range of ludicrously tasty beers, crafted by independent breweries with the kind of love, care and attention usually reserved for a small puppy at Christmas. We believe that more people would drink these beers, if only they knew just how amazingly tasty they were. So we care deeply about helping people to discover superior ales, supporting the little guys who dare to be different and sharing our passion for great beer with the world. Enthusiasm is infectious and beer is delicious.... that's a pretty good combination in our eyes. Our events are a direct reflection of our mission. Simply put, Indie Ales's tutored beer tasting experiences champion independent, hand crafted and incredibly scrumptious beer. We won't stick to yawn inducing pre-scripted notes, so you can forget about the PowerPoint slides. You may even learn a thing or two to show off to your mates next time it’s your round. And did we mention there was beer involved? You get a load of that too. Bill's T'AI CHI CHUAN Short Form
Distance: 0.0 mi Tourist Information
Chessington & Ewell Area
London, United Kingdom Kt9

07766242940

T'ai chi ch'uan or tàijíquán, often shortened to t'ai chi, taiji or tai chi in English usage, is an internal Chinese martial art practised for both its defense training and its health benefits. It is also typically practised for a variety of other personal reasons: its hard and soft martial art technique, demonstration competitions, and longevity. As a result, a multitude of training forms exist, both traditional and modern, which correspond to those aims. Some of t'ai chi ch'uan's training forms are especially known for being practised with what most people would categorise as slow movement. Medical research has found evidence that t'ai chi is helpful for improving balance and for general psychological health, and that it is associated with general health benefits in older people.
