The Queen's Club is a private sporting club in West Kensington, London, England. The club hosts the prestigious annual Queen's Club Championships grass court men's lawn tennis tournament (currently known as the AEGON Championships for sponsorship reasons). It has 28 outdoor courts and eight indoor. With two courts, it is also the national headquarters of real tennis, hosting the British Open every year. The Queen's Club also has rackets, and squash courts; it has now become the headquarters for both these sports due to the Prince's Club closure in 1940.HistoryFounded as The Queen's Club Limited on 19 August 1886 by Evan Charteris, George Francis and Algernon Grosvener, the Queen's Club was the world's second multipurpose sports complex, after the Prince's Club, and became the only one after the Prince's Club relocated to Knightsbridge and lost its outdoor sports facilities. The club is named after Queen Victoria, its first patron. On 19 May 1887 the first lawn tennis courts were opened and on 1–2 July 1887 the first sporting event was held when Oxford played Cambridge. The construction of the club buildings took about eighteen months and they were opened in January 1888. William Marshall, finalist of the inaugural 1877 Wimbledon Championships was the architect. Among the initial sports offered at the club were real tennis, Eton Fives, rackets, lawn tennis (grass courts and covered courts), football, rugby and athletics. Cricket was also played but not as an organized sport. The University Sports meeting between Cambridge and Oxford was held at the Queen's Club from 1888 to 1928.

On June 1st 1999, the 20th Century Theatre entered a new era of its history as a venue for art and photography exhibitions, private receptions, product and book launches, fashion shows, fashion sample sales, fairs, and most importantly, a restored and liberated landmark. Once one of London's "ghost" theatres, it was saved from obscurity by the owner, Mr. W. Jones, in the1970's, who prevailed on the Secretary of Environment to take action. As a result the theatre is now a Grade II, listed, English Heritage building.

“The theatre’s wonderful character makes it the perfect backdrop in which to stage an event with panache. You name it, the theatre has done it – from haute couture shows for dogs (yes, really) to perfume launches with Cirque du Soleil acrobats hanging from the ceiling, to publishing parties for Jamie Oliver and textile exhibitions by local resident Darcey Bussell." The Hill magazine
Built circa 1860, The 20th Century Theatre is a rare survivor of the rectangular hall-type theatre. It has hosted memorable performances by Laurence Olivier, Margaret Rutherford, Rex Harrison, Marie Lloyd, Sir Henry Irving, Charles Dickens, Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree, the Lena Ashwell Players and many more. Book and Kitchen is a bookshop with a small cafe, art gallery and events space, hosting literary evenings, supper clubs, music nights and more. We opened our doors on the wonderfully-named All Saints Road in the spring of 2013, and our aim is to combine the literary and culinary in a fresh and modern setting.
We are a neighbourhood bookshop integrated in the thriving local community, through the host of events and activities across all age groups and interests.
Book and Kitchen isn’t just a retail space selling books. It is also a social hub where people can flick through a second hand book over a coffee, enjoy a salad with a game of backgammon or get stuck into a random discussion with other visitors. We live by the motto Eat, Drink, Read, Talk.
Specially designed over two floors to have a welcoming environment in an informal setting – it feels more like an eclectic study than a shop. This is reflected in the books we stock (from fiction, non-fiction, philosophy through to cookery and children) which grows organically with the shop based on our interests and customer suggestions.
We have many returning customers who use the space to just think and work either downstairs in the cafe or, if it’s sunny, on the outside terrace. Some people are in love with the books and some just love to eat!
We joke that pretty much everything you see at Book and Kitchen is for sale!
You can buy a piece of original art from one of our resident artists or choose from a great range of prints from artists such as Tor Freeman, Helen Hancocks, Caroline Binch, Sabrina Rowan-Hamilton and one off photography prints by Ben Buchanan and Alastair MacNaughton.
There’s also a selection of decorative items – such as Melody Rose’s beautiful up-cycled ceramics and Peter Ibruegger mugs – which make great gift items.
In addition, if you are looking for bespoke services – we have a Library Service that can design a starter kit of books for adults, special interest or children that are unique and can form the building block of a growing library. With our Library Design Services, we can help our customers to design a modern and eclectic environment for their study, library or reference center including furnishing and book selection. Or if it’s the shop itself that catches your eye then come and talk to us about private hire.
Our mission is to promote graffiti as an art form. We think we can make a good case that street art is now the most influential art movement of the past 30 years. The infiltration of urban culture is huge, and it's influencing everything from skateboard design to high fashion.
Graffik Gallery is not a traditional gallery, it's an art place. What makes its uniqueness is not limited to the high level of the artists on show but also the fact that it is a part of the urban art movement itself under its own unique concept. The gallery is constantly swarming with artists with a thirst for collaboration, creativity and the possibility of expressing themselves freely on the walls of Graffik's Graff Garden
Graffik Gallery captures your imagination and showcases raw, cutting-edge talent. A foundation to awaken and nurture unexplored talent while promoting those at the forefront of street art culture.
Discover your new creative space and immerse yourself in our incredible events and exhibitions.
We look forward to seeing you soon
