The Twisted Wheel was a nightclub in Manchester, England, open from 1963 to 1971. It was one of the first clubs to play the music that became known as Northern Soul. The nightclub was founded by the brothers Jack, Phillip and Ivor Abadi as a blues and soul live music coffee bar/dance club. The original location of the club was on Brazennose Street, near Deansgate and Albert Square. This was the rhythm and blues mod venue, with Roger Eagle as DJ. The club's later location was at 6, Whitworth Street, M1 3QW. This venue was the mostly soul-oriented club with resident Saturday "All Niter" DJ Bob Dee compiling and supervising the playlist and utilising the newly developed slip-cueing technique to cue in vinyl records. The Whitworth Street venue was a converted warehouse, with a coffee snack bar on the ground floor and a series of rooms in the cellar. These lower rooms housed the stage, a caged disc jockey area, and the main dance room. Back-lit iron wheels decorated the simple painted brick walls. Ivor Abadi ran the club without an alcohol licence, serving only soft drinks and snacks. There was another Twisted Wheel in Blackpool under the same ownership.Prior to the opening of the Twisted Wheel, most UK nightclubs played modern popular music, Soul and R&B. The Twisted Wheel DJs and local entrepreneurs imported large quantities of records directly from the United States. Many of the records played at the Twisted Wheel were rare even in the United States; some may only have been released in one city or state. At the time, in addition to records released by larger record companies, there was a huge number of soul releases by a wide variety of artists on a multiplicity of obscure, independent labels.

One day in Jolly Jungle, the sun shone down.
It was quiet and peaceful, there wasn’t a sound.
When out of the trees an animal popped.
He has a big long trunk and ears that flopped.
He has a little round tummy and a swishy tail,
And four big feet that leave a trail.
His name is Ethan Elephant, a helpful friend is he.
He was walking through the jungle to see what he could see.
Each story is centred round one very special little animal called Ethan Elephant. He lives in Jolly Jungle along with all his animal friends. In each book, Ethan helps one of his friends solve a problem they have been facing, making them a happy animal once more. ‘Ethan Elephant & Leno Lion’ is currently circulating local libraries and nurseries and is sitting on the desks of eleven children’s publishers! Fingers crossed the books will be published soon so I can share my stories, not only with the general public, but also with all the people who have inspired me to write over the past few years.
Thank you for visiting my page.

In 2001, Jeanette Miller became one of the youngest Managing Partners of a solicitor's firm in the UK at just 28 years of age when she set up the firm.
Originally concentrating her skills on Civil Law where she achieved huge success in her own practice JS Miller Solicitors, Jeanette then went on to take over the running of her father's practice Geoffrey Miller Solicitors, www.motoroffence.co.uk one of the UK's only firms specialising solely in defending drivers facing prosecution for motoring offences. Both firms are no run side by side.
Jeanette's vision is what sets her apart from many other solicitors claiming expertise in the field of motoring law and personal injury law. She personally oversees the training of all staff at the firm to ensure her meticulous skills are mirrored throughout the firm. She demands the best from her staff and she makes sure their efforts are regularly rewarded to promote absolute dedication and motivation.
Jeanette does not bamboozle her clients with solicitors' jargon. This attribute teamed with her approachable nature means she is not the stereotypical solicitor, but is the lawyer for the people. If you feel like you have a "David versus Goliath" fight ahead of you, Jeanette and her team will step up to the plate on your behalf and fight to achieve Justice. Jeanette's particular areas of expertise in the field of personal injury include tripping and slipping accidents, road traffic accidents and accidents at work including the complex area of repetitive strain injuries (RSI).
Many solicitors will refuse to deal with repetitive strain injury cases for fear that they are too risky with too much work to be done on them to ensure a successful outcome. Jeanette has been involved in countless cases involving repetitive strain injuries ranging from keyboard injury claims to people working on assembly lines in factories. One of our most unusual RSI claims involved a lady who worked as an ice cream vendor who unfortunately suffered a RSI after vending ice cream non-stop for an entire day without breaks.
Jeanette is a member of The Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) and the Pan-European Organisation of Personal Injury Lawyers (PEOPIL). She is also accredited with Personal Injury Law Society Panel status.
Jeanette believes strongly in the mantra famously quoted by Ghandi: "Be the change you want to see in the world." Taking this principle very seriously, she was recently dubbed as "Miss Justice" for her work in fighting against law changes that would have greatly affected innocent motorists, and her e-petition attracted almost 22,000 signatures and resulted in an Early Day Motion being tabled in Parliament. The petition was not met with a favourable response from the PM and so the Law Society took up the cause in January 2010 and successfully sued the government. Jeanette assisted the Law Society with the fight providing data and case studies to ensure that Justice was eventually done!
Aware of the need for social consciousness to feature in the minds of any modern business owner, Jeanette has recently taken up two causes she feels she can assist. She has been charged with the role of fund raiser for the charity, Addiction Today helping those with any type of addiction but particularly with drug and alcohol addictions. She was also recently appointed as an Ambassador for the Duke of Edinburgh scheme. The Duke of Edinburgh award is now available to youths serving at Her Majesty's Pleasure in Young Offenders Institutes and Jeanette and her team are keen to give back to help inspire young people whose lives have started off on the wrong footing.
