Black Rock is an area of undeveloped land located near Brighton Marina in the city of Brighton and Hove. It was previously the site of a swimming pool that was demolished in the 1970s.There is also an area just to the East of the Marina that is known as Black Rock. Here at low tides a vast area of Black rocks can be seen that are excellent for nature observations for the likes of ecologists.HistoryFrom at least the early 19th Century, Black Rock was the site of an inn and a few houses overlooking cliffs to the east of the then town of Brighton. In 1936 an Art Deco Lido was constructed at beach level, but this was closed in 1978 and demolished in 1979, having been run down ever since its closure during World War II.The area is served by an extension of the Volk's Electric Railway, which has remained in use thanks to the proximity of the marina, although the line was shortened when the marina and associated coastal defences were built in the early 1970s. The cliff-top houses were also lost to allow for the marina's approach roads. A new Black Rock railway terminus station was constructed in the 1990s, controversially slightly off-centre when compared with the terraces behind it which lead up to Lewes Crescent, Kemp Town.FutureBrighton and Hove City Council have plans to develop the site with a predominantly leisure use. From 2007 there have been plans to construct a multi-purpose sports arena with adjacent ice rink, however in July 2012 the Council considered those plans were no longer viable and decided to seek a new development partner.
The Church of the Holy Trinity is a Greek Orthodox church in Brighton, part of the English city of Brighton and Hove. Built in 1838 in one of Brighton's most notorious slum districts, Carlton Hill, it was an Anglican church for most of its life: dedicated to St John the Evangelist, it was used by the Anglican community until it was declared redundant in 1980. After some uncertainty about its future, it was sold to Brighton's Greek Orthodox community in 1985 and has been used as their permanent place of worship since then. Reflecting its architectural and historical importance, it has been listed at Grade II since 1971.HistoryCarlton Hill is a long, steep road on high ground known as the East Cliff, north of the Kemp Town development and south of Hanover. Following Brighton's rapid growth in the early 19th century, it became established as one of its most deprived slum areas. Henry Michell Wagner, the Vicar of Brighton from 1824 until his death in 1870, was committed to providing free churches for Brighton's poor people, at a time when pew-rents were standard in Anglican churches. He used his large fortune to build six churches in which most of the seats were free rather than subject to pew-rents. The need for such action was urgent in the early years of his curacy: by 1830 about 18,000 poor people lived in the town, representing nearly half the population, but only 3,000 rent-free pews were available in the existing churches.

Babay Fay is born from my passion for crochet and the desire to make a difference.
By the age of 8, I was knitting, doing tapestry and cross-stitching and enjoyed doing them as a leisure.
In 2011, I discovered a lady who was doing beautiful pieces with crochet and showed me that it was not a "granny sport" but in fact a craft very much in touch with contemporary fashion. You will see magnificent crochetted pieces in many Grand Designers shows: Dior, Chanel, YSL to name but a few...
So I learned the basics that summer and never looked back since. I have been "hooked" ever since and it is now my passion.
From making cardigans, to making handbags or pet’s blankets, my experiments with my hooks together with countless yarns bring me great pleasure and I now turn this passion into a useful little business.
I enjoy doing the most simple pieces just as much as the luxurious ones.
As well as a passion for crochet I fell in love with the Pay-It-Forward concept which I discovered by accident on a Canadian knitting website where volunteers had left hanging from trees scarfs and hats for the less fortunate and the homeless to help themselves at the start of the winter.
It really stroke a cord with me and have been using the same principal where I live at the start of winter 2015. Already planning another one for next year already as well as other Pay-It-Forward project I have on the back burner.
So with this in mind for 2016, Babay Fay will be donating little hats for premature babies to the Sussex Neonatal Care -Trevor Mann Baby Unit.
Thank you for visiting and let's start making pretty things!
