The Clarence is Dublin’s premier boutique hotel located in the heart of the city, on the banks of the River Liffey just a stone’s throw from the famous Ha’penny Bridge. Our hotel is a proud reflection of 21st century Ireland, simple and elegant, a contemporary aesthetic that embodies the very best of Irish hospitality. The Clarence first opened its doors in 1852. The hotel was refurbished in the 1930’s and hosted an eclectic clientele, from visiting clergymen to bawdy musicians. The tired two-star stopover was bought by Bono and The Edge in 1992 and transformed into a contemporary boutique hotel, the kind of place that they would choose to stay themselves, if visitors to Dublin city. Their new Clarence Hotel opened in June 1996. Our hotel is located within short walking distance of a myriad of Dublin city experiences to suit all tastes: from Michelin star Irish restaurants to cool indie coffee bars; big brand shopping on Grafton Street to cutting edge Irish designwear around Temple Bar, George’s Street and South William Street; theatres such as the world famous Abbey as well as contemporary venues such as the Project Arts Centre and the New Theatre. Catch a huge international band at The Olympia or discover some brand new Irish rock music in The Workman’s Club. Dublin’s biggest nightclubs are just a stroll away, from the opulent and exclusive Madison Nightclub to the fun filled party vibe of Everleigh Gardens. Cultural Dublin awaits guests at The Clarence: Trinity College, The Guinness Storehouse, The James Joyce Centre, Dublinia, The Natural History Museum and so much more. With 50 bedrooms and suites to choose from, as well as our spectacular Penthouse Suites, The Clarence offers luxurious and stylish accommodation in the heart of it all. Within the hotel complex, guests can enjoy a number of dining and bar areas – The Study and The Octagon Bar in the hotel itself, as well as Cleaver East restaurant on the ground floor and The Liquor Rooms underneath the hotel. We also provide 24 hour room service and many added comforts for our guests to enjoy. The Clarence is the perfect location for a stylish, modern city centre wedding or civil ceremony and our dedicated team will provide every assistance in arranging your beautiful day in one of our many spaces. Our front facing function rooms and suites offer privacy and understated elegance overlooking The Liffey. We have all the facilities needed to host your event, from large conferences to intimate meetings. Our events team will assist from start to finish. From fun weekends to romantic getaways, family gatherings to solo business trips, a warm welcome, a luxurious room and superior service awaits you at The Clarence Hotel.

The Bohemian
Distance: 0.2 mi Tourist Information
6 Ormond Quay Upper Dublin 7, Co. Dublin
Dublin, Ireland Dublin

+353 1 874 9778

6 Ormond Quay Upper was built in 1686 by Sir Robert Doyne, Secretary to the Irish Privy Council. Ormond Quay (Upper and Lower) was the first quay built in Dublin. The house overhead of the Café is one of the five oldest houses in the city, being pre-Georgian. Because of its age it has been made a National Monument. Large portions of the basement of the house also date from this time. The quayfront house was originally a “Dutch Billy” gable-fronted house like those on the quays in Amsterdam. Interesting fact: our bar furniture is made out of salvaged wardrobes (dated 19th century). Boteco Brazil Restaurant and Venue was developed to bring a new concept of Brazilian and Latin culture to Dublin City. It was redone and reopened in March 2013, and it is now fully functioning as a café, restaurant, wine bar, art gallery and venue to hold musical events and private functions such as wedding receptions, birthday dinner parties, showers, anniversaries, corporate events and any other celebration. It is an attractive, open and equitable space for fair-priced, good-quality and convivial eating, drinking and conversing; welcoming people who work and live locally and those who are new to the city.

"gastropub, n. Brit. A public house which specializes in serving high-quality food." Derived from "gastronomy", and first coined in when the first gastropub, The Eagle, opened in London, gastropubs always have an atmosphere which is relaxed, and a focus on offering an eclectic menu, prepared to the highest standards of the best restaurants. Staying true to this format requires a menu that complements the assortment of wines, beers and cocktails that the gastropub has to offer. Since opening our doors in October 2009, The Exchequer has gone from strength to strength. Awards for Best Gastropub in Ireland 2010 and Best Cocktail Experience 2012 and 2013, along with listings in Bridgestone's 100 Best Restaurants in Ireland guides in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 and recommendations from Paolo Tullio and Lucinda O' Sullivan have propelled The Exchequer to the forefront of the bar and restaurant sectors in Ireland. With two late night bars, lunch and dinner being served seven days per week, comfortable high seating, a funky dining room perfect for private functions and even a floating steel booth, we offer an environment suitable to any occasion. Whether its a romantic meal with your loved one, dinner with family or friends, a casual snack, a corporate event or simply a few drinks and a good night out, you will be welcomed, appreciated and taken care of by people who are passionate about what they do.

Bagots Hutton is a space that is flexible in nature, a restaurant one moment, a funky wine bar the next. It is a venue which moves away from the established idea of a different venue for shopping, eating and socialising. Bagots Hutton Wine Bar/Shop/Restaurant will comprise of a 120 seater cafe wine bar occupying the entire basement and 1st floor space. Within its open plan design there will be, through its designs and layout, two areas, which although complimentary, will have distinctive feels and moods. The front area situated toward the main entrance will cater for an immediate daytime trade with a busy cafe feel inside a boutique styled retail unit which will provide the sale of fine wines, teas and coffee everything you eat and drink in Bagots Hutton you can also purchase to enjoy at home. We will also provide food in the style of antipasti's, cheese plates, meat plates, crostini's and salads in an open performance deli/bar which will be an integral part of the visual experience and cuisine orientated mood. To the rear of the space there will be a feeling of a relaxed wine lounge adopting comfortable low seating and lower atmospheric lighting. The wine bar and deli bar which extends to both areas will split the two areas, with wine/tea/coffee bar to the front, deli bar to the rear. Bagots Hutton will build the bridge between the Georgian and the modern New York style cafe. This is a modern renovation that incorporates classical fittings and fixtures. Within its modern functionality there will be elements of an age past through its use of period French textiles and industrial period furniture.
