The Millennium Dome, subsequently referred to simply as The Dome, is the original name of a large dome-shaped building, originally used to house the Millennium Experience, a major exhibition celebrating the beginning of the third millennium. Located on the Greenwich Peninsula in South East London, England, the exhibition was open to the public from 1 January to 31 December 2000. The project and exhibition was the subject of considerable political controversy as it failed to attract the number of visitors anticipated, with recurring financial problems. All of the original exhibition and associated complex has since been demolished. The dome still exists, and it is now a key exterior feature of The O2. The Prime Meridian passes the western edge of the Dome and the nearest London Underground station is North Greenwich on the Jubilee line.ConstructionThe dome is one of the largest of its type in the world. Externally, it appears as a large white marquee with twelve 100 m-high yellow support towers, one for each month of the year, or each hour of the clock face, representing the role played by Greenwich Mean Time. In plan view it is circular, 365 m (one metre for each day in a standard year) in diameter. It has become one of the United Kingdom's most recognisable landmarks. It can easily be seen on aerial photographs of London. Its exterior is reminiscent of the Dome of Discovery built for the Festival of Britain in 1951.

North Greenwich tube station

North Greenwich is a London Underground station served by the Jubilee line. Despite its name, it is not in the area historically known as North Greenwich, on the Isle of Dogs, north of the River Thames; an entirely different North Greenwich station used to be there, between 1872 and 1926. It is actually closer to Charlton than to Greenwich, however, it is at the northernmost tip of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, which perhaps provides the best explanation of the name. The tube station was opened in 1999. It is adjacent to The O2 (formerly the Millennium Dome) at the northern end of the Greenwich Peninsula, on the south bank of the Thames. It lies between and on the Jubilee line, in Travelcard Zone 2 and Zone 3.HistoryOpened on 14 May 1999, North Greenwich is one of the largest stations on the Jubilee line, capable of handling around 20,000 passengers a hour, having been designed to cope with the large number of visitors expected at the Millennium Dome (now The O2).The track at North Greenwich was designed to facilitate a branch of the line from this station. A branch towards Thamesmead was planned; however this has not been developed beyond the initial proposal, and is not currently in Transport for London's investment programme.

Craft London is a project by Stevie Parle with Tom Dixon. It’s a New British restaurant, café, cocktail bar and shop. We focus on quality in production by collaborating with modern experts, fanatics and obsessives to craft world class products through the roasting of coffee, smoking of fish, bee keeping, meat curing, fermentation of vegetables and the creation of a contemporary kitchen garden. Both the restaurant dishes and the products are created using almost exclusively British produce bought from farmers we know well and always handled with a light, modern, touch. The interior is crammed with the best of Britain from Scottish tweed, British limestone and London designed furniture and lighting.

Ravensbourne is a university sector college in the field of digital media and design, with a vocationally focused portfolio of courses, spanning fashion, television and broadcasting, interactive product design, architecture and environment design, graphic design, animation, moving image, music production for media and sound design.Ravensbourne, which was formerly Bromley Technical College, was opened in 1959 by the amalgamation of the Bromley School of Art and the Department of Furniture Design of the Beckenham School of Art. It was originally located at Bromley Common and Chislehurst in outer London before moving to a new purpose-built campus in inner London on the Greenwich Peninsula in September 2010.HistoryThe Bromley School of Art opened in 1878 in Tweedy Road, Bromley. It became Bromley College of Art after the second world war. In 1959 it merged with the Department of Furniture Design of the Beckenham School of Art and in 1965 moved to purpose-built accommodation on Rookery Lane, Bromley Common. The site had originally housed the Rookery, an 18th-century house that had been burnt out while in military occupation in 1946. As the college expanded it was unable to develop the Rookery Lane site any further, as it was part of the Metropolitan Green Belt. Limitations to space had already resulted in Foundation courses being housed in temporary buildings in the grounds around the main building. This resulted in the college moving in 1975, to a new site set amongst 18acre of private parkland on Walden Road, Chislehurst. The Rookery Lane site was redeveloped for the Bromley College of Further & Higher Education.
