"gastropub, n. Brit. A public house which specializes in serving high-quality food." Derived from "gastronomy", and first coined in when the first gastropub, The Eagle, opened in London, gastropubs always have an atmosphere which is relaxed, and a focus on offering an eclectic menu, prepared to the highest standards of the best restaurants. Staying true to this format requires a menu that complements the assortment of wines, beers and cocktails that the gastropub has to offer. Since opening our doors in October 2009, The Exchequer has gone from strength to strength. Awards for Best Gastropub in Ireland 2010 and Best Cocktail Experience 2012 and 2013, along with listings in Bridgestone's 100 Best Restaurants in Ireland guides in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 and recommendations from Paolo Tullio and Lucinda O' Sullivan have propelled The Exchequer to the forefront of the bar and restaurant sectors in Ireland. With two late night bars, lunch and dinner being served seven days per week, comfortable high seating, a funky dining room perfect for private functions and even a floating steel booth, we offer an environment suitable to any occasion. Whether its a romantic meal with your loved one, dinner with family or friends, a casual snack, a corporate event or simply a few drinks and a good night out, you will be welcomed, appreciated and taken care of by people who are passionate about what they do.

The Duke
Distance: 0.3 mi Tourist Information
8 & 9 Duke St
Dublin, Ireland

+35316799553

Established in 1822. The Duke has enjoyed a distinguished association with the literary greats of the Irish Nation. James Stephens, James Joyce, Oliver St. John Gogarty and Arthur Griffith breezed into the Duke regularly in the early days of the century when they wanted a quiet reflective jar. In later years, the three great literary musketeers, Brendan Behan, Patrick Kavanagh and Myles Na gCopoleen experienced a transitory love affair with the premises, although hardly ever at the same time as they were rarely enamoured with eachothers company for too long. As a general rule the presence of one was dictated by the absence of the other two. Nowadays the organisers of the Dublin Literary Pub Crawl start their historic tour of Dublin at this establishment. Today the Duke is still renowned for providing the caller with a place of quiet respite to enjoy a peaceful drink or some heartwarming food throughout the day. Grab a seat indoors, or soak up the city centre atmosphere on our heated smoking terrace. . Every Wednesday night at 8:30pm we have a great laugh upstairs with The Laughter Lines troupe, brilliant improv comedy show. To Book : [email protected] Also Check out Twitter :@LaughterLines1 Facebook : @LaughterLinesDublin We show all major sporting events on our large screen in the bar and on televisions located throughout the pub. We are also the starting point for the world famous Dublin Literary Pub Crawl which happens every evening at 7.30pm in the summer months (Apr - Oct) and from Thursdays to Sundays in the winter (Nov - Mar). There are also private tours all year round.

Untainted, unspoiled and unperturbed by the passage of time - that's what makes The Palace Bar one of Dublin's best-loved original Victorian pubs. Owned by the Aherne family since 1946, we bottled our own whiskey under the Palace Bar brand, a commonplace practice among Dublin pubs throughout the 1940’s , 50’s and 60’s. However, with the development of on-site distillery bottling this practice disappeared from Dublin in the 1970’s only to be resurrected by Cooley Distillery and The Palace Bar in 2011. The Palace has attained international acclaim for its singular devotion to the promotion of Irish whiskey. In excess of 100 of the finest Irish whiskies can be savoured here. The house also features a unique range of handcrafted Irish beers.

Selling a fine selection of bottled and draft beer that has been hand picked from our expert brewers, we have a great passion for fine ales, especially when it comes to complementing them with great food. Join our locals hidden amongst our many cosy alcoves and winding mahogany stairs to enjoy the view of Dublin’s River Liffey a stones throw away. Watch some sport beside the fire or socialise on one of our four floors. Since 1808, our commodious tavern has been the venue of choice for raconteurs and ramblers, for imbibers of liquor and the loftiest discourse. Become a part of our illustrious and colourful history, if the door’s off the latch just invite yourself inside. You’re sure to be welcomed in to join us for a beer tasting workshop with one of our brewers, hand picking your draft growler to take home with you. We look forward to seeing you! Slanite!
