London, United Kingdom SW12 8JZ

We are very proud of the successes of Chestnut Grove, and its reputation in the local community. Chestnut Grove is a high performing 11-19 mixed comprehensive in Balham, on the boundaries between Wandsworth and Lambeth. The school was judged Outstanding by Ofsted in March 2008, and, in July 2011, we took the opportunity to build on our independent spirit to ‘convert’ to academy status. The school has an excellent track record of examination results both at GCSE and A level. In 2011, 98% of Year 11 students gained 5+ A*-C GCSE grades, with 65% achieving this with English and Maths. The school takes great pride in the exceptional progress made by students of all abilities as they go through the school; in 2011, this ranked Chestnut Grove 7th in the whole country. Chestnut Grove’s strength lies in the way it successfully marries tradition with innovation. The emphasis on academic rigour in the curriculum not only trains students to do well in examinations, but to develop independent learning habits which will stand them in good stead at university and beyond. The school’s reputation for the Arts is well known in the local community. The visual arts, music, dance and drama are all excellent, and provide young people with a myriad of opportunities, including a Foundation Art Degree in the Sixth Form. The atmosphere of Chestnut Grove is very special and always commented on by visitors. It exudes energy, enthusiasm and vitality. Very often, the sound of music filters through its corridors, and always, the displays tell of our students’ achievements – academic, sporting or artistic.

What we do – We are parents, each of who had a fulfilling vocation prior to starting our families. Now, we want to enthuse to the next generation & ignite their curiosities for these wide and fascinating subjects. From pastry chef to fashion designer, yoga teacher to photographer, our aim is to engage kids in the true substance of these professions and give them a real insight into what is involved in each or these careers, usually, from the comfort of our homes. Our aim is to continue to grow, recruiting more ‘formerly professional parents’, eager to join our group. Whether the kids discover a new potential career they would like to pursue or an all consuming hobby, we are here to show them what its all about. About the Founders - Lee Klabin Grant – has a passion for two very different fields & holds degrees in both- Biomedical Science as well as in Product design & development from London College of Fashion. It is the latter that formed her career as a couture women’s wear designer. Her own label [Lee kLabin] sold women’s ready to wear collections internationally from Harrods, to Hong Kong, until the birth of her first child Louis in 2011. She then decided no design could better her children and closed her label, to focus on motherhood. Since then she has also a had little girl, Beulah in 2013 and lives with her family in Wandsworth Common. Emilie Laura - Has a degree in International Relations. After working for several years in this field, decided to turned her two passions: cooking and photography into her career. After starting up her own pastry catering business in Argentina, she birth to her first daughter Chloé and decided to focus on motherhood, re-organising her workload to teach her favourite recipes. Today she lives with her husband and two daughters in London, working as a family and food photographer (www.emilielaura.com) & teaching kids cooking classes. Belen Dominguez – was born in Argentina & has a Degree in Human Resources. After working in this industry for several years, she decided to pursue her passion for yoga professionally & enroll in the British Wheel of Yoga to become a yoga teacher. She has now been practicing yoga for 12 years in the US and in the UK. Following her formal qualification she then completed her qualification in Yoga for kids with the Yoga Alliance and created her own company Throughout the years I enjoyed my yoga practice and I saw the many benefits it brings, but I wanted to expand my practice and share those benefits with others.
